Coca Cola has been developing its international FIFA World Cup Celebration campaign around “Wavin’ Flag”, a track by Somalian-born Canadian-based hip hop artist. The track, from K’naan’s 2009 album Troubador, was first remixed by Young Artists for Haiti during the Vancouver Winter Olympics. The Celebration Mix, renamed “Waving Flag”, was rewritten and recorded several times in the build up to the FIFA World Cup, with bilingual versions featuring artists singing in Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, French, Greek, Naija, Chinese and Indonesian.

The track has gone to number one on the charts in eleven countries.
K'naan
Somalian-born, Canadian-based hip-hop artist K’Naan has spoken about the “unity and celebration” that will connect with his song “Wavin’ Flag,” after it was chosen as the official anthem of Coca-Cola’s 2010 FIFA World Cup program. K’Naan has specially recorded a version of the song for the tournament, hosted by South Africa.
